Thank you for your interest in obtaining your Arizona Medical Marijuana License!

Even though Recreational Marijuana is now legal in Arizona, having your Medical Marijuana License has several significant benefits. According to the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act:

1- Medical Marijuana card holding patients are exempt from paying the Recreational excise tax (16%!) that is imposed on every recreational marijuana sale on top of state and local sales tax

2- Medical Marijuana card holding patients will have legal protections against being penalized for the medical use of marijuana and against discriminatory practices, including:

• A school or landlord can’t refuse to enroll or lease to a qualifying patient unless failing to do so would cause the school or landlord to lose benefits under federal law;

• An employer can’t discriminate against a qualifying patient in hiring, terminating, or imposing employment conditions unless failing to do so would cause the employer to lose benefits under federal law; and

• An employer can’t penalize a qualifying patient for a positive drug test for marijuana, unless the patient used, possessed, or was impaired by marijuana on the employment premises or during hours of employment.

3- Medical Marijuana card holding patients will have no limit on potency of cannabis products that they can purchase (for regular recreational users, marijuana edibles may not contain more than 10mg of THC per serving, or 100mg/package)

4- Patients are eligible to apply for their card if they are 18+ years old, and in special cases, under 18 years old (for recreational use, patients must be 21 years or older)

5– Medical Marijuana card holders are allowed to legally possess more than regular recreational users.
